Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage

Poor old Leo can never catch a break. Millions of dollars, awards, fame… sure, but never a break. Where by “break”, I of course mean “Oscar”. Since those other things probably count as a pretty good break all said and done. Nonetheless, now you can vent some ultra high level first world problems by helping the beleaguered star pursue the ultimate vanity piece: his very own Oscar.

Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage takes the form of a classic side-scrolling runner, with hearty servings of pixellated movie stars to compete with. Controls remind me of frustrate ’em up Olympics Games and Track and Field series on the NES; where you need to alternatingly mash the G and H buttons to run. The game is choc full of Leo references (watch out for them darn icebergs), and you’ll be facing off against fellow dramatists, like MATT DAMON (complete with space suit) or Michael Fassbender (as Steve Jobs). Leo’s Rampage is also filled with a healthy dose of cynical minigames to break up the RSI-inducing levels.

I never did manage to get the Oscar, but I did reach level 8 where things got quite chaotic as I faced off against hordes of photographers, cameramen, icebergs, a giant attacking Oscar statue and of course, Lady Gaga.

About J.C

I grew up in the dark dingy arcades of the 1980s, blasting heads with Robocop 2, but grew up in an era that spanned the introduction of the x86 home computer, through to the 16-bit revolution, into the polygon age and beyond. I write about food, travel and of course, New Retro Games. I started newretrogames.wordpress.com and contribute to www.thecitylane.com. I am also a freelance business researcher, writer, and editor having published academic and corporate articles on innovation and intellectual property.
